Dark Clouds and Silver Lining

He was five years old when I met him. He stood by himself staring at his backpack and its contents sprawled on the concrete. The wind blew his long black hair out of his face; his dark maroon, almost blood-like, eyes staring but not seeing anything. His body slumped forward and he looked as if he could be the embodiment of depression. I squatted down beside him, picking up the pieces of the discarded bag. He didn't notice me. Arcane Knowledge FULLMedlock Street howled mournfully as I shuffled my way under the flickering streetlamps. No one travelled down Medlock anymore, so it was understandable that the street cried soft whimpers of loneliness. The only company Medlock received was that of a paranoid teenage boy that hardly had any time to listen to its constant weeping. Grand housing complexes were being built closer to town and people began to leave without selling their homes. Buyers were unwilling to live here, so owners abandoned them to nature, leaving Medlock alone with its haunting memories. Another sob raked through the decomposing houses and I sighed heavily.
